Mama's medicine
See that mug over there? That's Mama's medicine. It's the  love that courses through my veins every day and its sitting right there in my work station where all of the magic happens on this blog. I need my coffee. Kind of like a baby needs the teat and stuff.

My love affair with coffee began when I was in my teens. It was pretty much the coolest thing to do to sit in the local 24 hour Denny's and mainline coffee for six hours. I mean small town life holds few options for teenagers, dudes. So Denny's it was. And for hours we would sit and drink coffee while enjoying the locals. Sometimes that meant watching someone talk to their ice tea. Other times it meant ordering fries with ranch dressing to dip them in. It always meant we'd see Pam, the night server. We absolutely believed we were the highlight of her life. Looking back, that might have been a bit of an ego trip on our part. So where am I going with this? Coffee is important.
I know I'm not a give-away blog. And I'm not going to become one but I've been thinking about how you read this blog faithfully and how you say nice things all the time or make a comment on a post that makes me laugh and I've come to think that maybe I might say thank you beyond crying the happy tears on my keyboard and trying to come up with the words that actually convey how grateful I am for you. So then I was all, "Hold up! I could do a reader appreciation day or something!" and when I tried to make sense of what that would actually mean, I started to shake with fear and decided to just give away a Starbucks card! Because that is EASY! And everyone loves SOMETHING at Starbucks, right? Because, as you know, coffee is important. And so is iced lemon pound cake, my friends.

Sooooo....

The rules are simple. You've gotta like our Facebook page. That's the mandatory entry. Because my original idea was to just give it out to a Facebook fan but then I got a secret message from a super sweet blogger telling me that Ye Old Facebook laid the smack down on people doing giveaways on their pages. Legal shiz and stuff. So I had to bring it here.  See I really don't have any clue what I'm doing sometimes! I'm not just blowing smoke! The entries end on Friday and then this handy dandy Rafflecopter site will select a random entry to win! You can earn additional entries by commenting or following us on Twitter too! Just fill out the form and cross your fingers. I hope you win!

Anyhoo....I love you and stuff. Thank you for reading. So, who wants a Starbucks gift card?

I don't give a fake Starbucks name, mostly because I do the drive-thru. Much easier with 3 kiddos in tow When I get to go by myself I'm so brain-fried I can barely manage to give my own name, let alone a pretend one! :-)

I don't have a fake name for Starbucks .... maybe I should .. hmmm

I really liked the salted caramel hot chocolate but when I went the other day they said they don't have that anymore (even though it is still an option on the board), so he fixed me something else and I really liked it but I don't know what it is! Guess I will just have to try more....

Never left a fake name although it seems fun! My usual coffee is a caramel machiatto WITH whipped cream!

My local starbucks doesn't ask for a name - and they almost always know what I'm getting before I even get to the counter! Uh, that's a decaf grande nonfat mocha with whip. I sometimes forget how to order, so I'm super grateful for Aaron and Ryan and Alesha and Kathy and everyone else who has ever helped me figure out what I want. And then made it perfectly.
Sometimes Kathy gives me a fake name. She calls me Richard.
When we are at some other Starbucks, they might ask "what's the name for this drink?" My husband takes that very seriously. He picks a name ... for his drink. It cracks me up.

Did someone say STARBUCKS?! Hells yeah! er..hem...*maintaining composure*...yes please. You crack me up, girl. The Denny's bit totally spoke to me. We used to hold all our "important" band meetings at Dennys moons over my-hammy ago. Our waitress was Olga. I don't think that was her real name, but she looked like an Olga, so we named her. Happy New Year, Pants! xoxo

ahhh... Denny's. good times. Glad to have shared some of those crazy nights with you and the gang. I'm feeling kind of lame here because don't give a fake name either. I think I may steal "Richard" though as that made me laugh. Great post! Happy New Year!

A Dennys??!! Fo realz??!! I WISH the town I lived in had a Dennys. We had to mainline our coffee at this place called Robin's Donuts. I don't even think they exist anymore. It was all donuts and coffee. My first roommate worked there. She used to let me help "stuff" the creme and jam-filled donuts. Bonus: we got to eat the ones I pooched! :D (The donut stuffing machine is HARD man!) Ok, so maybe I was actually kinda lucky we didn't have a Dennys. Donuts are the Gods' food.

haha! I forgot to even put my Starbucks bit on here- as for nicknames, we have none other than the "good Starbucks" where the HI-larious flamboyantly gay man works and the "not so good Starbucks" where they seem to only hire these skinny little bitches that figure just because they're 20 and pretty they don't have to actually WORK for their paycheck. My two go-to drinks: Caramel Macchiato and Cinnamon Dolce Lattes. I like the seasonal ones too- especially pumpkin spice and eggnog or gingerbread.... :D I likes lattes.

I usually hit the Starcrack Drive thru & when we go in, the Barristas know us on sight & start making our drinks when we hit the door. We may need an intervention. Or our own table.

I've heard some awesome fake names and baristas rolling with the jokes at Starbucks. Someone had Voldemort written on their cup and the barista called out "He who Must not be named!" hah i'm such a nerd. I'd totally givea fake name and then forget what name I left though.

Do you give a fake Starbucks name? No. I don't get pranks/jokes like that- they make no sense to me. So I don't do it. :)
What's your usual? My usual is Tree City (woops).

A fake starbucks name? Is that, like, a thing? I'm so sadly out of touch. I'm still on lolcats. No fake name, but I refuse to use their terms for sizes. I order a small, medium or large. Mostly cause it just makes me feel stupid to say venti.

I don't give a fake name. I also don't frequent starbucks too often (gasp). I'm more of a tea drinker these days. Not that I don't like coffee. At least occasionally. My husband is the starbucks addict of the family - fraps all the way.

My Starbucks (in the hospital I work at) doesn't ask for names. The other Starbucks that I usually go to is a drive thru, so no name there either. My favorite drink is a grande white mocha with soy and no whip! Heavenly...

I have never considered giving a fake name at Starbucks. Usually by the time I wind up there, I'm so brain dead that I barely know my own name, let alone have the brain cells to make up another one.

(You know you wanna give this to me. Cause you love me and all . . . . . )
