I took a bit of a vacation from blogging last week. I didn't mean to. It just happened.
I spent mornings laying in bed and playing with the kids. We read books and got to the serious business of jumping, snuggling and giggling. All the pillows and blankets in one bed.
Oh and also toys. The toys came to bed too.
I applied for the job of assistant bed tent/fort support and I totally got the job.
And Plum offered fashion support as I cleaned out all the junk totes in the hallway.
There was the pumpkin farm, a tent full of straw that needed played in
and a snake in the backyard to stare at.
I went to a benefit for the women and children living in our local domestic violence shelter and a seed of inspiration was planted (More on that in a later post).
We went to church. We played outside. We ate a lot of bacon.
Plum only wanted to wear her rainbow pants so I let her.
We watched a new movie called White Lion that captivated Mr. Pants. I
can't show you the whole picture of him watching stretched out across the recliner though. I don't need to tell you it's because he was buck nekkid, right? Here's his head.
We made huge strides getting back to normal after a few weeks in flux. We did that by going slow, playing, singing and taking a lot of baths. I did that by ditching the writing for a week in favor of extra cooking demos, puzzles and dance parties.
And we finally arrived here in comfort town.
Things are coming. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are like tomorrow. The first snow is something that will make me cry. I'm a sap like that. I am so excited. Like to a ridiculous level. And I'm inspired. Just in general. Because life is good.
And this little family of mine keeps reminding me of that.
What kinds of things do you do to reconnect with your people?
